Manifesting Visions into Reality

Individual values are “The core of our personality and play a large part in unifying our behaviors. Values can be beliefs, a mission, or a philosophy that is meaningful to a person and that influences responses to people and events’ ( Skiffington & Zues, 2000). In a sense, values are like an internal compass that “directs and motivates” an individual towards their goals.

Six core values are:

  1. Personal Power: Relating to self esteem, worth, identity and ego.
  2. Achievement: Achieving results and goals and receiving recognition
  3. Intimacy: Sharing of yourself to family and friends as a mother, friend, wife, sister, daughter
  4. Play and Creativity:  Expressing yourself and using your imagination
  5. Search for meaning: Finding wholeness, unity, integrity, peace and inner connection
  6. Compassion and Contribution: Giving of yourself to improving, helping and serving.

In life transition, we go through a re-evaluation of  our core values, making a conscious selction based on self reflection. We create a clear vision on how we see our future without the presence of others opinions, and as a result we  clarify and illuminate our core values and principals that will guide and drive us to manifest our vision into reality by consistent action.

There are many techniques that are used to help achieve your personal vision, but here is one that I like to use.

  1. Form a clear mental picture/image of the outcome
  2. Identify motivating values
  3. Set some positive pressure on yourself to keep you inspired and accountable (make a public pledge- social media is great for this)
  4. Set a realistic  timeline
  5. Commit it to paper. Create a vision board or dream book
  6. Magic rule of 21. Set up a ritual/routine of the behaviors you need to employ for this lifestyle change
  7. HAVE FUN AND ENJOY THE RIDE
