Manifesting Visions into Reality

Individual values are “The core of our personality and play a large part in unifying our behaviors. Values can be beliefs, a mission, or a philosophy that is meaningful to a person and that influences responses to people and events’ ( Skiffington & Zues, 2000). In a sense, values are like an internal compass that “directs and motivates” an individual towards their goals.

Six core values are:

  1. Personal Power: Relating to self esteem, worth, identity and ego.
  2. Achievement: Achieving results and goals and receiving recognition
  3. Intimacy: Sharing of yourself to family and friends as a mother, friend, wife, sister, daughter
  4. Play and Creativity:  Expressing yourself and using your imagination
  5. Search for meaning: Finding wholeness, unity, integrity, peace and inner connection
  6. Compassion and Contribution: Giving of yourself to improving, helping and serving.

In life transition, we go through a re-evaluation of  our core values, making a conscious selction based on self reflection. We create a clear vision on how we see our future without the presence of others opinions, and as a result we  clarify and illuminate our core values and principals that will guide and drive us to manifest our vision into reality by consistent action.

There are many techniques that are used to help achieve your personal vision, but here is one that I like to use.

  1. Form a clear mental picture/image of the outcome
  2. Identify motivating values
  3. Set some positive pressure on yourself to keep you inspired and accountable (make a public pledge- social media is great for this)
  4. Set a realistic  timeline
  5. Commit it to paper. Create a vision board or dream book
  6. Magic rule of 21. Set up a ritual/routine of the behaviors you need to employ for this lifestyle change
  7. HAVE FUN AND ENJOY THE RIDE

Colour Your Mood

Colour has a profound effect on human behaviour and it is better understood now than at any time in history.

We have all heard of “seeing red”, “feeling blue” and “green with envy”- but is there real meaning  behind colour theory?

There are four psychological primary colours – red, blue, yellow and green. They relate respectively to the body, the mind, the emotions and the essential balance between these three

BLUE

Research has shown that blue is the worlds favorite colour. Blue affects us mentally rather than physically.  It is peaceful, tranquil  and soothing. Blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals. It’s downside is that it is a cool colour and can be depressing. Fashion consultants recommend wearing blue to job interviews because it symbolizes loyalty. People are more productive in blue rooms.

Use blue in the following ways:

@home: Office or study or yoga/meditation room: Mid-to-dark blues are soothing and encourage clear thought and concentration. Accent with yellow for clear, logical thinking or pink for stress reduction.

@work: Use blue in company logos and within spaces of; Cleaning services, Temp/recruitment agencies, Healing business and Beauty salon.

RED

Being the longest wavelength, red is a very powerful colour.  The most emotionally intense color, red stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. It grabs our attention first and raises a rooms energy level. It is also the color of love. The effects are physical and stimulating. Red clothing can appear heavier, and isn’t the best choice for when you are trying to negotiate.  In design, red is usually used as an accent. Designers say that red furniture should be perfect since it will attract attention in a space.

Use Red in the following ways:

@home: Workout area: Red boosts energy, vitality and physical endurance. Too much can make you feel irritable, impatient or uncomfortable, so combine small amounts with neutrals such as cream or beige. In the living room or dining room, red draws people together and stimulates conversation. In an entryway, it creates a strong first impression.

@work: Use red  in company logos and within spaces of; Creative studios, restaurants, cafes, retail and sports related businesses.

YELLOW

The yellow wavelength is relatively long, which activates emotions. This makes it the strongest colour psychologically. Cheerful sunny yellow is an attention getter. Yellow captures the joy of sunshine and communicates happiness. Generally considered optimistic and a friendly color, but too much can cause fear and anxiety. People lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms, and babies will cry more. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused. Yellow also enhances concentration, hence its use for legal pads. It also speeds the metabolism.

Use Yellow in the following ways:

@home: Dining room and Kitchen: Yellow stimulates digestion, metabolism, detoxification and appetite. It can be used in many shades such as rust, amber, earthy colours such as nut-brown, golden yellow, peach. It’s perfect for kitchens, dining rooms, and bathrooms, where happy color is energizing and uplifting. In halls, entries, and small spaces, yellow can feel expansive and welcoming.

@work: Use yellow  in company logos and within spaces of; Construction Companies, hospitality and agriculture related business.

GREEN

Green stands for balance, harmony, refreshment and of course the natural environment. It is extremely restful. Currently the most popular decorating color. People waiting to appear on TV sit in “green rooms” to relax. Hospitals often use green because it relaxes patients.

Use Green in the following ways:

@home: Combining the refreshing quality of blue and the cheerfulness of yellow, green is suited to almost any room in the house. In a kitchen, a sage or medium green cools things down; in a family room or living room, it encourages unwinding but has enough warmth to promote comfort and togetherness. In a bedroom, it’s relaxing and pleasant. Green represents nature in our home and is a great way to bring in actual plants that have lush green foliage.

@work: Use Green  in company logos and within spaces of; Day Care Center, schools, travel agencies, florist, hospitals, medical practice.

All in all when using colour, its worth thinking about what it will be predominantly used for, and how much time will be spent looking at it. Using common sense seems to always prevail-  A bedroom needs to be a restful place but also warm and cosy, a living room should be warm and welcoming.

Go forth and colour your world!

Vitalize Your Chakras for Better Energy Health

I’m want to share with you Carol Tuttle’s three very simple things you can do to vitalize and energize your chakras to achieve the level of holistic energy health you’ve always wanted

The Chakra Energy Patching Exercise

When there is a leak, you have to patch it. Many people are energy-depleted because they are not able to hold enough life force energy or “chi”. In this energy condition, you are flushing energy down and away from you, much like a toilet flushes water down. In order to maintain good energy health, you want energy spiraling up into your base chakra. Here’s one way you can do it in 4 easy steps:

1. Close your eyes and imagine you can see the energy leaking out of your tailbone.

2. Imagine a patch large enough to cover the leak.

3. Place the patch over the leak.

4. Imagine you can go beneath the energy and reverse the flow to spiral it up into your body through your tailbone.

The Crown Chakra Exercise

Why is this important? Life force energy is also fed to us through our crown chakra. The crown chakra is located on the top of your head. We maintain a higher life force energy when our crown chakra is open and active. When the crown chakra is closed or weak, we feel a lack of vitality and direction in our lives. As a result we look to others rather than our own spiritual compass for guidance. Here’s a simple, but very effective way to open up your crown chakra to receive energy in abundance:

1. Place the finger tips of each of your hands on the top of you forehead where your hairline starts. Your fingertips should be touching.

2. Now pull your fingertips away from each other as though you were opening up your crown.

3. Move your fingers 2 inches above the starting point and repeat the same movement.

4. Do this over the entire crown of your head until you reach the nape of your neck. Take 3 deep breaths to anchor in this opening.

 The Personal Power Chakra Exercise

Disruption of the flow of your life force energy occurs when a chakra is frozen or weak. It is common for individuals to have a frozen or weak third chakra. The third chakra represents your will, confidence and sense of self. This results in a lack of confidence and will to move enthusiastically with towards your goals. The third chakra energy wheel is located 2 inches above the navel in the solar plexus area. These simple steps will help you activate your third chakra effectively

1. Rub your palms together swiftly creating static electricity

2. Place the palm of your right hand on your solar plexus, rotating your palm in a clockwise direction while repeating: “I am powerful, I am the will of creating what I want.”

3. Repeat these steps 2 or 3 more times. Enjoy the exercises!

Design according to the Universal Laws of Nature

We are surrounded by energy fields. Traditional science of architecture such as Chinese Feng Shui and Indian Vaastu Shastra guide the design and construction of buildings in harmony with the laws of nature and the universe to ensure those energies operate freely. They are the science of direction that combines all the five elements of nature and balance them with the man and the material.

Feng Shuiis the practice of focusing on our surroundings to bring peace and harmony into our lives. It is not a religion, and began when the ancient Chinese observed that the environment was a large part of their quality of life.Feng Shui gives us the means to synchronies the physical with the spiritual and to create a favorable environment that aligns with your activities.

Vaastu is a sanskrit word meaning “the science of structures.” Vaastu Shastra is creating a congenial settings or a place to live or work,  taking advantages of the benefits bestowed by the five elements called “Paanchbhootas” of nature, thereby paving the way for enhanced health, wealth, prosperity and happiness in an enlightened environment.

Although quite different in many ways, Feng Shui and Vastu Shastra share some common core timeless design approaches that sound familiar to us but are made better from their enlightened perspective.

In the Western world, we can employ placement techniques and applications in a way that fits our culture. The point is to proactively create spaces where we can be nurtured, grow and thrive.

Dying To Be Me

I am currently reading a truly inspiration book “Dying To Be Me”, Anita Moorjani’s memoir.

Anita’s story is one of true healing both Physically and Spiritually.  As she began to loose her battle with cancer, and with her organs shutting down, she slipped  into a coma where she had a near death experience. Against all odd Anita returned to share her story, completely healed.

Below is an exert from her book that I feel is the essence of her story. Take a minute to read it if you can.

Positive Thinking Vs Mindfulness

Positive thinking is not a new concept, but in recent times it has become an increasingly popular tool for achieving good health, happiness and success. There seems to be a consensus on the value of consciously cultivating positive thinking for individual growth.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines optimism as having “hopefulness and confidence about the future or successful outcome of something; a tendency to take a favourable or hopeful view.”

But is it enough to actually yield positive results?

Now I must admit I am a culprit of many a time lecturing myself or even my loved ones that, “negative thoughts attract negativity in life”. However is that true, or can thinking this way during challenging times, instead burden us further with the notion that we have ultimately created these events for ourselves through our negative thoughts?

Of late I have come to look at positive thinking in a different light. Even though I am all for being positive, I have come to understand that it is not only about thinking positive thoughts but it’s about how you feel about yourself. Your inner dialogue or better yet your inner critic, that no one else sees or hears.

When you hear or read about positive affirmations and visualisation techniques, it suggests you have to believe that it (your goal or desire) has already happened! But when you have that little voice inside your head that says “ yeah visualize all you want but it’ll never happen cause you’re just not good enough/you don’t deserve it”, may explain why sometimes those positive things just don’t come to you so easily.

So you ask, how do you get to the point where you no longer have those negative thoughts, where you can shut that inner critic up once and for all? The way I see it is, you can’t.

What you can do is become aware of that voice, those thoughts, that critic and learn how to recognize it and only give value to the positive thoughts that will benefit you.

Allow yourself to feel negative in that moment without judgment, connect with that thought, and then ask yourself  “ If I let this thought guide me, is it beneficial to me?” If it is not, you allow the thought to flow though you, and release it.  Develop a space between your thoughts and actions. With time, you will come to identify the thoughts or beliefs that hook you into negative patterns and behaviours.

Dr Russ Harris, author of “The Happiness Trap” and “The Reality Slap” describes this as “Mindfulness: a mental state of awareness, focus and openness – which allows you to engage fully in what you are doing at any moment. In a state of mindfulness, difficult thoughts and feelings have much less impact and influence over you.”

Dr Harris suggests to help develop mindfulness you must practice Anchoring yourself. Imagine you are a boat out at sea during a storm; you are being tossed around and washed away until you throw in your anchor. The storm is still going on around you but now you are stable, in that one spot with your anchor grounding you.

A popular way to anchor yourself is through meditation. But as meditation isn’t for everyone, Dr Harris suggests the following technique you can use in your everyday life to help with this practice.

Anchor yourself in the present moment: Look around you and notice 5 things you can see, then notice 5 things you can hear, then smell etc. Engage completely with yourself in that moment.

You can do this:

·    In the shower every morning. Become mindful and totally engaged with the water hitting your skin, the smell of the soap. You may get hooked and pulled back into thoughts about what your day will look like etc but just bring yourself back into the moment.

·    Turn a chore into mindful practice. Something you would normally do with distraction- ironing clothes in front of TV etc.

·    During pleasant tasks like having a cup of tea- Switch off the autopilot and be in the moment, enjoy the flavour and smell: engage your 5 senses.

The more you practice the better you get. And with time, these same techniques will carry over  into other life situations, both positive and negative, allowing your thoughts to become a background noise, like having the radio on while you work.

As Stephen Hayes simply put it “There is as much living in a moment of pain as in a moment of joy”

I know I would rather experience real emotion, be it good or bad, than bottle it up and fight against it. What about you?

Hello World!

What is BE.LIVE.LOVE  about? Inspiring and empowering people to be mindful and live their journey truthfully!!!

It’s about Inspiration, Motivation, Personal Development and Personal Empowerment!

There are many people today that are unsatisfied with their lives for a number of reasons. Whatever reason they have for being unhappy, there is undoubtedly a way to change it. At times it can require a change in career, relationship or even habits. Other times it is simply a change in the way that people think. More often than not, it is both. This is what personal development is all about.

Personal development is a journey that you take to better your family situation, career, spirituality, emotional health, and every other aspect of your life. Essentially, personal development is about making conscious decisions about everything that you do, the way that you think, and the way that you react to situations. It can help you obtain everything that you always dreamed of, and more, with the simple application of a few simple mind sets and tools.

Personal development is really about making changes. Finding resources to make changes, move past obstacles, set goals, and find happiness is not always easy. Which is the purpose of be.live.love.

Change does not  live in books, workshops or CDs. It lives in the consistent application of relevant ideas, information and strategies. Yes, a book or workshop might be the catalyst for change but the only person who can actually change your life is you.

You may already be well into your journey of self discovery, I know I am defiantly on mine, or perhaps this is only the beginning for you, either way maybe we can share our journey together!
